My family and I recently had the unfortunate luck of experiencing a break-in and robbery. Immediately after the man took what he did and left, we called all three emergency numbers possible (10111, 112 and the local police office landline) not one of them answered.
We live in a small rural town so my father went to look for the criminal. The police found them in the streets but didn’t do anything to except arrest someone who could have been a possible suspect. We later confirmed the man was not a suspect.
While we were searching the same man broke in at two other homes at separate times. The police went to both instances immediately, but never us.
We went to open the case the day after it happened. It is now 4 days after the case was opened and 5 after the robbery and neither the police or the investigators have come to us. The investigators have gone to the two other families who experienced the break-in. Not us though.
The criminal sprayed us with pepper spray and broke open the door. We have had to clean up the spray and replace the door (Both of which could’ve been evidence and should have been inspected.) for our own safety. The other two families affected have similar come to us and they are both baffled at the fact that the police haven’t even come to take our testimonies, let alone start an inspection.
What are our options in taking this further because this is absolutely unacceptable and the police force in this country needs to stop thinking they can slack off while receiving paycheques paid for from our taxes…
