I‘m looking for options to install a sauna at my cabin. I want to comfortably fit 3 to 4 people.
Option 1: Build it in an existing car port. Layout attached. Pros: very spacious and no need to build a shelter around the sauna (must hold heavy snow load). Cons: no windows and loss of car port as a storage space.
Option 2: Free standing sauna outside. Pros: window with magnificent view is possible. Cons: Requires permission (that I quite possible won’t get) and size. I didn’t find a prebuilt sauna close to the size of the layout. Additionally, the free standing sauna is very pricey.
What would you do? Do you know a manufacturer that has a larger outdoor sauna prebuilt and who delivers to Switzerland?
Bonus question: Are barrel saunas any good? They come much cheaper. I heard that it’s hard to get the heat to the right place because the benches have to placed too low. Are there versions with 2 top floor benches?
