I created a dnd campaign setting that never eneded up getting used which I have decided to hopefully turn into a novel. I took some of the more developed NPCs and turned them into the main characters with backstories and motivations I am honestly very excited about.
Issue I have now is I don't really know where the plot is going. I've never really planned a novel like this before but dnd campaigns obviously have a lot of imput from other people. As the DM I would build the story further based on the players actions, desires and the vibes they are putting down. Turns out when its me on my own, I get a little lost on that.
I have four characters, but what they want is all different and some of them is basically for things to remain as they are so trying to build based on their want vs needs is throwing me for a loop.
How do I go about building a story from just the characters and a beginning of a world which was designed for external intervention?
