Full K-1 to AOS Journey — Boundless + Track My Visa, India to USA, Interview Done, Still Waiting

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my full K-1 visa to Adjustment of Status journey from the very beginning until where I am right now. Reading other people’s timelines helped me a lot during this process, so I hope this helps someone else too.

My wife is a U.S. citizen from Pennsylvania, and I am from India. We were in a long-distance relationship and decided to go through the K-1 fiancé visa route so we could get married in the United States.

At the beginning, we used Boundless to help prepare our K-1 petition. Immigration paperwork felt overwhelming, especially while doing everything from another country, so we wanted guidance to make sure the I-129F package was properly organized.

We collected all the documents and evidence for the I-129F Petition for Alien Fiancé(e), including:

- I-129F form and supporting documents

- U.S. citizen petitioner documents

- Beneficiary documents

- Passport-style photos

- Proof we had met in person

- Travel evidence

- Photos together

- Chat/call records

- Relationship timeline

- Intent to marry statements

- Other relationship evidence showing our relationship was genuine

We also used Track My Visa during the process to follow timelines, compare progress, and understand what stage our case was at. Like many people, we checked USCIS, NVC/CEAC updates, and appointment availability often.

K-1 Timeline:

- I-129F received by USCIS: November 15, 2024

- I-129F approved by USCIS: April 23, 2025

- Case sent to Department of State: July 3, 2025

- Consulate: Mumbai, India

- K-1 biometrics/OFC: October 3, 2025

- K-1 visa interview: October 6, 2025

- K-1 visa approved: October 6, 2025

- Entered the United States on K-1 visa: November 4, 2025

The K-1 waiting period was mentally exhausting. After USCIS approval, there was still the NVC/Department of State stage, CEAC status checking, DS-160, medical, OFC/biometrics, and trying to get appointment slots for Mumbai. That part was stressful because even after approval, it still felt like there were so many steps before actually getting the visa.

Eventually, I was approved at my K-1 visa interview on October 6, 2025, received my visa, and entered the United States on November 4, 2025.

After arriving in the U.S., we got married within the required 90 days and then filed for Adjustment of Status.

For AOS, we filed:

- I-485 Adjustment of Status

- I-765 Employment Authorization

- I-131 Advance Parole / Travel Document

- I-864 Affidavit of Support

- Marriage certificate

- Relationship evidence

- Financial sponsorship documents

- Other supporting documents

AOS Timeline:

  • AOS package submitted/received: January 12, 2026

  • I-765 received: January 12, 2026

  • I-131 received: January 12, 2026

  • I-485 received: January 12, 2026

  • RFIE sent for I-485: January 16, 2026

  • Biometrics appointment scheduled: January 17, 2026

  • RFIE response received by USCIS: February 4, 2026

  • I-485 changed to actively reviewing: February 5, 2026

  • I-765 changed to still being processed: February 5, 2026

  • Interview scheduled for I-485: March 10, 2026

  • Marriage-based green card interview: April 29, 2026

  • I-485 updated again to actively reviewing: May 7, 2026

  • Current status: Still actively being reviewed

  • EAD: Still waiting

  • Advance Parole: Still waiting

For our green card interview, we brought as much evidence as possible, including:

- USCIS notices

- IDs

- Marriage certificate

- Birth certificates

- My wife’s previous marriage/divorce documents

- Joint bank statement

- Homeowners policy together

- Recent pictures together

- Relationship evidence

- Other documents showing our married life together

The interview was on April 29, 2026. Overall, it went well. The officer asked normal relationship and marriage questions, and we answered everything honestly. There were no major problems during the interview, and we left feeling like it went fine.

After the interview, my I-485 status stayed as “Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS.” On May 7, 2026, the status updated again, but it still only says actively reviewed. There has been no approval yet. I also still have not received my EAD or Advance Parole.

Right now, I am trying to stay patient, but honestly it is difficult. The whole process feels like your life is paused. You wait during the K-1 stage, then after entering the U.S. you wait again for work authorization, travel permission, and finally the green card decision.

For anyone who went through K-1 to AOS recently:

How long did it take after your marriage-based green card interview to get approved?

Did your case stay in “actively reviewed” for a while after the interview?

Did your EAD/AP ever get approved after the interview, or did the green card approval come first?

Has anyone had a similar Pennsylvania field office experience?

Thanks to everyone who shares their timelines. This process is long and emotionally exhausting, but seeing other people’s experiences really helps.
