Hey everyone,

I’ve had a desktop PC for pretty much my entire life and I always used to be quite proud on my "workhorse" and worked hard for every part. It currently runs on Windows 10 with an i7-9700KF 3,6GHz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, RTX 3070 8GB, and 5TB of storage. The thing is I barely use it anymore.

Over the last few years, I’ve slowly moved almost my entire workflow over to my MacBook Pro because of university and longer commutes. This week I finally upgraded from my old Intel MacBook Pro to a used M1 Max with 64GB RAM and I'm super happy with that.

I originally built my desktop mainly for graphic/design work, videoediting, gaming and especially modding and trying out coding stuff. But since I'm barely at home anymore and subscribed to GeForceNow, I’ve basically eliminated most of the reasons I used to turn on my PC in the first place. I’m a bit tight on money atm, so selling it while it still has decent value seems like a logical move. My current idea is to install Windows on my old Intel MacBook as a backup in case I ever need Windows-specific software or access to old drives/files.

My only hesitation is FOMO. I’m worried I might sell it and then realize there’s something important I could only do on that machine and regret it later. Realistically though, I boot it up maybe once a month these days. And now that I can play almost all my games on my Mac through GeForce Now for 11€/month, it’s even harder to justify keeping it. But on the other hand the chip and RAM shortage makes me hesitate even more since my PC is still very solid. Also I couldn't mod anymore.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Did you sell your desktop and regret it or was it the right move?

Also what can I realistically expect for my PC?

Thanks in advance!
