I just want to share my experience getting the copper coil because prior to my appointment I had put it off for so long because all the comments I’d seen on TikTok and Instagram related to the IUD were of people sharing how getting it inserted was excruciating and the most pain they ever been in, and so I was terrified to get it. I got my copper coil inserted a few hours ago and the experience was so easy and painless! I took a couple pain relief tablets before my appointment and she gave me a numbing spray and local anaesthetic injection. I had zero pain throughout the entire procedure and now I wish I’d gotten it sooner! Right now I’m only experiencing very very mild cramps but they’re hardly noticeable. I do think all the horror stories are mostly from people in the US where it seems that local anaesthetic is not given as a standard procedure, whereas in the UK it is.
