I recently (the past two months) booked several hotels through Bilt travel and I’m making this post to share as a data point/to see if others have had similar experiences.
Essentially, I booked two hotels (one with the Palladium travel credit and bilt cash redemption) and the other with just a normal card. The first hotel I booked, was nonrefundable and confirmed and then immediately canceled ~10 mins later. My card was never charged but my bilt cash and credit were redeemed and I was unable to rebook with those credits applied. Called the travel support, who referred me to card support, who referred me to rewards support. About two weeks later (after a lot of emails back and forth), Bilt gave me a check for the $300 credits as reimbursement since I paid full price for the new hotel (which did get nominally more expensive when I rebooked immediately after the cancellation) and was unable to reuse those credits.
The second nonrefundable booking was canceled a few days after I made the booking (by looking at my credit card refund statement). I didn’t check the booking until today and just had to rebook, but I didn’t receive any notice. I’ve reached out to Bilt, but my new booking is more expensive (again), but I’m not optimistic of a favorable resolution.
Be weary of any bookings you make through Bilt travel. They may be canceled without any notice. These are the last trips I expect to book through Bilt; will be going through Chase or AMEX again going forward (plus better multipliers).
Anybody else have this experience? Bilt definitely needs to step it up.
