When prey gets swallowed whole, how do they actually die?

Specifically thinking about Wading and diving birds, bass type fish and even whales..

As they are usually seen catching and eating whole and live prey, what happens to the meal as soon as they are swallowed? Is it immediate or slow death by stomach chemicals, do fish just suffocate from lack of water? Or other ways nature disposed of them?

How often does a meal agitate the mouth or throat just right and gets spit out before dying?

Playing with amortization schedules and adjusting various additional payments as well as payoff, I can find endless calculators online and on apps.

I also can find an equal amount of savings calculators.

What I can't seem to find, is if I have $XX dollars presently in my sinking fund/cash reserves making Y interest rate, how can see what the delta is laid out over time if I use that money to pay down my mortgage... as the account gets smaller earnings drops, but also as the mortgage goes down so does interest applied. Is there a way to see that curve? As well as input the savings interest rate.

'Savings x monthly interest - monthly mortgage payment' as shown overlayed with the running outstanding mortgage and cumulative interest applied.

Hopefully that translates into what im trying to accomplish
