I don’t usually post rants, but this one’s earned.

What the frig, Telstra?

I’ve been with you for years. Paid the premium because you’re supposed to be the reliable network. Not the cheapest—fine. I accepted that. The whole pitch is coverage and performance.

So explain this: I’m sitting in my own apartment in Zetland, inner Sydney, not the middle of nowhere… and I can’t get usable service on a iPhone 17 Pro Max with 5G.

Not “a bit slow.”
Not “one bar but hanging on.”
I mean dropouts, dead zones, and flat-out no service.

Inside my own home.

This isn’t a fringe case either—Zetland isn’t exactly a black hole. It’s dense, modern, full of apartments, and surrounded by infrastructure. If your network can’t handle coverage here, where exactly does it work properly?

What makes it worse is that this is exactly why people pay more for Telstra. Reliability. Coverage. “Best network.” That’s the whole brand.

Right now? It’s not delivering.

Before anyone jumps in:
– Yes, I’ve checked settings
– Yes, I’ve restarted the phone
– Yes, I’ve tested different spots in the apartment
– Yes, I’ve looked at outages

This isn’t user error. It’s network performance.

So I’m asking seriously:
Why am I paying premium prices for a service that doesn’t even work where I live?

Anyone else in Zetland (or nearby) dealing with the same thing? Or is this just my building acting like a Faraday cage?

Because if this is the standard now, Telstra needs to explain what customers are actually paying for.
