I have accepted an internal job offer as a HEO within the civil service and I start on Tuesday.
Im currently an AO, but EO on TCA for 6 months.
My manager has really been giving me a tough time lately asking me to do 1-1s with no guidance or just putting additional tasks for me to do, especially since she has found out that I’m leaving.
It’s Wednesday today and she has come to the office and had an unofficial meeting with me where she’s pulled up my flexi times and said I’ve logged them incorrectly and owe them 63 hours. She’s compared this to the times I’ve swiped my card in and out of the building, which I believe is inaccurate because often we all leave together and one person taps us out, or someone holds the door open etc etc.
She said I am to either go under investigation or I agree to misconduct which will result in a live warning on my record for a year. I asked how this would affect my new job and she said she doesn’t know. I called HR and they said that since I’ve already got a start date and contract, I can’t be dismissed or demoted. I called my union and she said that’s not true and if it is flexi fraud then I can get dismissed.
I haven’t received anything official from my manager so far but I just don’t understand how to go about this. If I go under investigation, what if my new job says they won’t let me start until it’s over? It could take months. And if I take the live warning, the union said my manager doesn’t decide whether it’s just a warning or not, the investigators do - and again it could lead to dismissal.
There have been times in the past where other colleagues have been pulled up for their flexi inputs and all she’s made them do is correct it and then make up their hours. Genuinely don’t understand what to do.
