Our (couple) first ever trip to Italy in September 2026.

We (couple) are planning our first trip to Italy in September 2026. Should we target any specific date to avoid tourists and still enjoy the warm weather ? I don't like to jam pack my trips and instead try to focus on few areas and see them properly. I am very happy to walk and use local transport and like to stay in city centres to spend less time commuting.
Here is our high level itinerary.
* Day 0 - Fly from Toronto to Rome.
* # Rome (3 nights)- stay near Termini station
* Day 1 - See Pantheon, Pizza Navona, Trevi fountain, Spanish steps.
* Day 2 - Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Roman Forum. See Trastevere area in the evening.
* Day 3 - Day trip to the Vatican City. Still reading about what all I can see in a day.
* # Florence (3 nights)- where to stay ?
* Day 4 - Rome to Florence (1.5 hrs train).
* See Piazza del Duomo, Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza della Repubblica. These seem * to be walkable areas. I am hoping we should be able to see in a day. Eat food in il * Mercato Centrale Firenze.
* Day 5 - See Uffizi Galleries, Ponte Vecchio bridge and Piazzale Michelangelo for * sunset. I was thinking of skipping Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze, is it ok to skip ?
* Day 6 - Day trip to Siena
* # Cinque Terra
* Day 7 - Take train from Florence to Pisa (50 mins). See Leaning tower of Pisa. Take train from Pisa to La Spezia (50 mins). Take train from La Spezia to Vernazza. Vernazza is our base.
* Day 8 - See Vernazza
* Day 9 - See another village - Monterosso
* # Milan
* Day 10 - Take train to from Vernazza to Milan - 3.5 hours. Take 1 hour train to Varenna (Lake Como).
* Day 11 - See Varenna
* Day 12 - See Varenna
* Day 13 - Take nn hour long train to Milan. See Duomo Di Milano and Galleria Vittorio * Emanuele II . Stay in Milan for the night.
* # Venice
* Day 14 - Milan to Venice (2.5 hrs). See Palazzo Ducale and Canal Grande.
* Day 15 - Do I need another day in Venice ? Day trip to Murano ?
* Day 116 - Fly back to Toronto
* As I yet to book any tickets, I can edit the plan. Please share input. Thank you.
