Here’s the current lineup, to which I’m hoping to add a few more bottles. I really enjoy Campari, which I’ll put in just about anything. Negronis, Boulevardiers, pair with gin, mezcal, bourbon, club soda, etc. It’s tart and bright. I’d like to expand my horizons. I found that Cynar is great as a substitute to mix things up. I found the Averna to be a bit sweet and syrupy for my liking. The Montenegro is preferred to the Averna, but Campari is still my favorite.
Currently drinking a Montenegro Manhattan:
2 oz bourbon
1 oz Amaro Montenegro
2 dashes angostura bitters
Garnish with Amarena cherry
Does anyone have a recommendation of something that can add the tartness/bitterness of Campari that’s not a clone?
