Hey all. I recently posted this thread about whether to shutdown negotiatiins or not ...

https://www.reddit.com/r/OntarioTenants/comments/1sx883r/should_we_just_shut_it_down_now_and_wait/

So, out of the original 5 tenants, there are me, my sister, and one other guy left. The other guy left is an 82 year old cancer patient living off an oxygen tank n cane. He doesn't use email or anything amd has no one helping out out other than me and my mom. Been wanting to help him the most because he was my dads closest friend in his last months n years.

The lawyer reps for the LL and deal keep calling him everyday, hounding him about when he'll leave, etc. They finally threatened to rescind w/e offers they've made to him if he doesn't agree to sign and leave by the end of this month.

At his age and in his condition he just doesn't have the wherewithal to keep going through this and now he wants to sign n get out, while also asking me to help him find a place.

Feels kinda shitty that he wants to give in, though I can understand. But feels even a bit more shityy that he wants to give and leave me alone in this while still wanting my help.

But I'd also feel shitty telling him I can't help him if he's gonna give in n leave me alone in this.

These friggin people are ruthless.

Made couple posts in the LL board some months ago, not sure if I can link them here.

LL selling 3 houses side by side each other. 2 tenants in 1 (me and sis in separate units), 1 in another, and 2 in the 3rd.

All served n-12's with purchaser listed as moving into all of them.

Suspected such, but based on info from another tenant and meeting they had, confident buyers are investors looking to tear down n flip to commercial to pair with hospital across street.

I said offers should cover first, last, moving costs n lost wages.

They offered 4k "in addition to moving costs n wages."

I said 10k should cover. But then mom on sisters behalf (on disability and in another unit) asked 20k for sister.

They insisted on dealing with both of us together like they automatically expect us to move in together wherever we go and said 30k no good. Then said 2 other tenants (old n anxiety ridden scared tenants) accepted 8k total and that is now their offer to me n sis combined.

In all this, they keep talking about negotiatiing in good faith. I lost cool, replied detailing how current info we have makes us suspect bad faith, but still would come to 25k total.

They said rejected bad faith allegations n "demand" of 25k (even though never used the word demand in our emails to them) and held at 8k total.

Should I try coming down again? Or just shut it down at this point and tell them they can make another offer if they wish, otherwise we wait for hearing?

I'm not cut out for this, I just wanna rip into them.
