Anyone have Experience with Amex Checking and HYSA

Hello everyone!

Does anyone have experience using American Express for both checking and high-yield savings accounts? I’ve been looking into it recently as a potential "main hub" for my funds and direct deposits.

User interface is a huge priority for me, so I’m curious how the app experience changes once you add banking to the credit card dashboard. I recently used SoFi, but I found the app too cluttered and disliked how they were constantly pushing products when I just wanted a simple place to store my money.

I don't need anything complex for my checking account; I primarily use it to pay off credit card balances and handle my monthly Zelle transfers.

If you’ve used Amex for banking and can offer a review, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks!

Hey everyone! thought id post this to see if anyone had any good recommedations on what i should do credit card wise. Mainly looking for a good eco system to enter that would benefit my reward needs!

  • Current cards: (list cards, limits, opening date)
    • Venture X $20,000 Limit March 2024
    • Robinhood Gold Card $10,000 November 2025 (Opened because i actually got off the wait list but had a very poor customer support experience so I'm done with them)
  • FICO Score: 750-760
  • Oldest account age: e.g. 2 years 2 months
  • Income: e.g. $117,000
  • Average monthly spend and categories:
    • Rent $1940
    • utilities $150ish
    • dining $500
    • groceries $1000
    • gas: $100
    • Misc. Subscriptions $100
    • Other: $600-$700
  • Open to Business Cards: Not against it
  • What's the purpose of your next card?
    • Purpose of next card would be to maximize my spendings for gaining travel points. I travel around 3-5 times a year but i would like to start traveling more in the future. I usually just use my venture x for everything because at the time of opening it i was fine just getting 2x on everything and using their travel portal, but now i would actually like to play it smart and actually utilize points.
  • Do you have any cards you've been looking at?
    • I have been looking at different eco systems to get into, if that's going with chase trifecta, going with AmEx, or just staying with CapitalOne one. Would like something that benefits my spend and can go from there. However i would like to utilize and stick with one if possible.
  • Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card?
    • I'm okay with category spending but i don't want a stack of cards i need to carry around, would like to keep it max 3 cards that i can use.
