Hi! The wicks on my Zippos start to get damaged by wind after only 2 days after properly refilling it and I wanted to know if there are other materials I could use to make a "flame proof" wick that doesn't burn even when the fluid starts running low. Stranded copper or steel wire maybe? I've also heard of fiberglass being an option. Asbestos wicks are no option for me. Any ideas? Every help is appreciated!

Hello!
After only 2 days after the last refill my wick will start showing little glowing spots under windy conditions so I'm assuming that it's burning and taking a little bit of damage everytime I light my Zippo. My cotton is packed correctly, not too tight and my wick is in the "S"-shape. I also fill my Zippo until the felt pad is wet, so I am definetly using enough fuel but the problem remains. What could I use to replace the wick with? I've seen people use fiberglass or copper wire. What material could I use to get myself a "permanent wick" that doesn't burn as easily as the standart cotton wick? Every help is appreciated.
