My friend keeps “forgetting” her wallet and I finally said no. Now she’s mad at me.

I’m 28 and she’s 29. We hang out a lot, mostly getting food or coffee.

At first it was normal. One time she forgot her wallet, so I paid. No big deal.

But then it kept happening.

Almost every time we go out, she says “oh I forgot my wallet” or “I’ll send you the money later.” Sometimes she does, but most of the time she doesn’t.

I started to notice a pattern.

Last time we went out to eat, the bill came and she said it again. She laughed like it was no big deal.

I told her I wasn’t paying this time.

She got quiet and then said I was being weird and making it a big deal over nothing.

We ended up splitting it, but she’s been distant since and told a mutual friend I embarrassed her.

Now I feel kind of bad, but also annoyed because it keeps happening.

AITA for finally saying no?
