I play 5+ string basses usually, and a lot of people who play heavier genres prefer it because of it's versatility even in standard tuning... Whenever I see a song with a low bass tuning like C standard on Songsterr, I add another track with a 5 string bassline in standard tuning (exactly the same notes as 4 string just adapted to 5 string). I figure that I'm doing people a favor cause nobody wants to downtune their bass that is perfectly capable, or adapt the tab themselves, but the track is always removed a day or two later.
