Myself and my partner are planning to do a trip around Asturias & Cantabria in July. We'd be driving from our hometown of Sitges and this is my vague itinerary so far:

-20th morning drive to La Rioja area and stay overnight

-21st-24th one base in Asturias and explore best areas

-24th-26th One base in Cantabria and explore best areas.

-drive home 26th (doesn't matter how late we get back)

I really need help with the base in Asturias and the base in Cantabria. We want cheap but nice enough, private room and within driving distance of the best bits of each area.

Any recommendations?
