Did I make a mistake?
My daughter is elementary age. She started lessons a few weeks ago and loves it. I am very excited for her, we’ve tried other activities and this is one everyday she asks to ride. I wish I could explain it, she loves riding and I can tell will want to for a long time. She has a professional trainer once a week ($60 lesson). We do not have a horse or anything (idk anything about horses actually). I love taking her to the barn and if I could afford it would join in.
Anyway she just had a birthday and of course got horse stuff. My family member made the comment to me that we don’t need to get her hopes up and get her off the “horse” and “riding” stuff asap. And they weren’t trying to be a jerk, just realistic. I’m not filthy rich that’s for sure. So now I wonder if I made a mistake even letting her start these lessons. I would love to get her going more lessons and possibly leasing a horse and shows at some point. I do know it’s expensive and thought about side jobs to help offset the cost. I spoke to her dad about it and he said I probably did make a mistake because we aren’t rich.
I’m not sure what to do. And idk if I’m just venting. I’m trying to be the best mom I can to my kids. But should I just slowly stop taking her ? I’m trying to make dreams happen, not shatter them.
