I know this is probably going to sound either untrue or somewhat odd but here we are…

I’ve been playing for coming up to a year now and have had multiple lessons in the early stages to help guide me away from main issues and ensure I was practicing successfully and so on. I’ve been out on the course when I can, but as a student it really does have to be when I can 😂. Each time I’ve been my score has dropped and quite considerably recently which makes me quite happy buuuut….

My long game absolutely sucks, put me on a par 3 course or around the green, in bunkers etc and it feels like everything just goes my way. I can usually infer what type of shot I need to play and what distances etc and actually am quite good at dropping it close to the pin. Which only about a year in I’d feel is pretty successful and not where I thought I’d be.

Coming back onto long game. Long irons, woods, driver the lot is where I’m let down. My shots really rack up from just not being able to get it to the green as quick as possible. Whether it’s taking drops or topping or chunking it any number of issues (issues change and get more wild the more annoyed I get). I’ll hit the odd perfect drive or perfect long iron and set up a perfect hole but 9 times out of ten I’m taking my second shot either 10 feet from the tee or deep into the rainforest wading through long grass.

My main questions are how can I effectively practice my long game, what’s the best drills for consistency, main feels? When I play short game my swing feels perfect and with good shallowing. Then coming to long irons it feels like I can’t consistently hit them well so the only way to hit them is just try and hit them as hard as possible and just pray it works.

Ask me any questions you like but I need the best tips I can get please 🙏
