I got a MRI after a basketball injury. It reads, "horizontal and radial tear is seen in the body segment with free edge tear of the posterior horn with background myxoid degeneration with mild peripheral extrusion of 2mms." My original doctor is prescribing the meniscal cinch surgery. I consulted another orthopedic for his opinion. He says he wouldn't recommend surgery by a long shot, but he would prescribe physical therapy and prp shots. I already have had ACL replacements in both knees. I am going to consult with a third doctor now. I'm 35 years old (m) and still active in sports. I'm still leaning towards the surgery option, since I hear stories here of the tear getting worse. If physical therapy alone doesn't work, there might be no option for surgery later.
