I’m looking for any advice on how to tackle chronic nocturnal panic attacks and it’s the insomnia that comes with it. I have them as a symptom of C/PTSD, my abuser enjoyed preying on me during that period of falling asleep and being in a REM cycle starting very early on in life like 3-4yrs old possibly earlier, for CSA & physical abuse. I’m an adult now and I still have panic attacks trying to fall asleep or find myself frequently waking in 30-60min periods all night in a panic unless I sedate myself first with either prescription sleep medication, Benadryl, or alcohol. Usually I turn to alcohol but not in a way that I’m dependent on it, I can and have gone without it without difficulty but is my go to for a quick fix. I’d like to find a healthier alternative. In the past I’ve also used exhaustion via exercise and extreme calorie deficit and a method but also both the best option.
