TMJ joint remodelled after 4 years of stress

I've been suffering with my jaw popping and deviating to the right from 4 years, I'm 26 now. It's taken me so long to find a doctor who looked at my problem beyond suggesting a night guard and telling me to stress less.

My orthodontist treats TMJ disorders and he took an airway CBCT for me and showed me that my left joint has flattened and remodelled from all the stress it has been absorbing from being in the incorrect position.

He suggested that he gives me a TMJ splint to take the stress off my joint, and that he can adjust my bite after that depending on what changes occur after that.

Has anyone had experience with anything similar? Hearing success stories will make me feel so much better because finding out that my joint has flattened has taken a toll on me.

Thank you :)
