Sold all my shares advice: On NW Mutual —> Fidelity and RHood

I was gifted $5k of GWPAX through a NW Mutual account for graduating college a few years back. Finally logged into it and got somewhat accustomed to beginning my investing journey.

Realized it was under performing the market / S&P 500 while also costing more upfront with a larger expense fee so.. I transferred to a Fidelity cash management individual account so I could allocate the funds into a lower expense ratio ETF.

I just initiated the sale on Fidelity (~8.3k as of today).. I’m wondering:

  1. How much in taxes is this gonna hit me?

  2. Do the fees fluctuate if it’s left in Fidelity & put into an HSA? Would transferring half the funds to my RHood 3% match Roth IRA initiate a larger tax or withdrawing out of a broker entirely to put into my Marcus HYSA?

TLDR:

*What should I expect in taxes / fees from selling the ~ 8k in GWPAX I’ve had for about 5 years.

27M.

I have had a NW mutual brokerage account gifted to me from my father once I graduated college a few years back. It started at around 5k from 2022 and is now north of 8k. This seems weak given how oddly bullish the market has been under this admin despite volatility. Regardless I know NW mutual reputation is poor and I’m looking to leave & manage myself.

The ONLY fund across Large, mid, and small cap US equity & International equity in my portfolio is from GWPAX.

I’m concerned because I’ve seen that GWPAX has an expense ratio of around 0.7? How would that impact me reallocating these funds in:

A) a Transfer into Fidelity or RHood Roth IRA

B) Sell the portfolio for cash & then take the funds and deposit them myself?

Also, how would a transfer affect taxes next year? Would I need to keep this NW mutual account open until I file next year despite allocating all funds elsewhere?

Any advice for a transfer or sell would mean a lot.

Thanks everyone.
