Need help deciding - 2 offers
Basically, got an offer in NYC for a big-tech adjacent with good stability (no layoffs) at 185k USD TC (~250 cad). they do raises and bonus every year but takes about 4 years for senior promo.
Also got another offer for a startup at 180k CAD, but every 6months they do a review and i could easily match the NYC offer after 1-2 years, with much more upwards mobility/scope/comp increase
180 in new york is basically same quality of life i have now, but the equivalent here in toronto would be a massive upgrade in quality of life.
my reasoning is the big name on my resume would be much better for my first job and career trajectory, but am i crazy to seriously reconsider staying at the startup? The work is interesting, the culture is fucking amazing.
Either way i’ll have to work like a dog, but i don’t mind to get my career off the ground.
