How dangerous is it if benzene is in pool water?
I have a very frustrating conundrum with my pool right now. I need to replace the liner, so I've drained it.
The pool is a very large above ground oval at 21x43, so just shy of 24,000 gallons. No water delivery company in my state will come out to my town. My local fire department will come out for a donation, but they can only do about 5,000 gallons or so.
So it seems like I'm stuck filling this pool myself. The issue is, my well water has both high amounts of iron and benzene. I know I can filter out the iron with a garden hose attachment, but the benzene is my bigger concern, as it is carcinogenic.
We have a whole house filter designed to tackle both those problems, however our hose spigots all bypass that system. And even if they didn't, running 24,000 gallons through it seems like it would put a lot of strain on it.
And even without the water quality issues, I'm worried about burning out my well pump or running the well dry, so it seems like it would take ages to fill this pool if I wanted to do it safely?
Has anyone else been in a situation like this?
