I’m currently an SEO in the Cabinet Office. I'm considering applying for some new roles that have popped up (both lateral moves and G7 promotions).

What’s the etiquette for telling a manager you're looking? I have a good relationship with them, so I want to be fair, but I’m not sure if I should wait until I actually have an interview lined up.

How do you balance being open without making things awkward too early?
