PSR Entry 11: Reverse!Hoenn - Sky Pillar

Turns out, my final challenge before I finally potentially join Team Sky is to go to the Sky Pillar and acquire the avatar of my world's "Skydios". I had tried looking for the Sky Pillar before, but I couldn't find the way in. It appears the way only made itself open once I proved myself by becoming Champion. The climb was arduous, but nothing to the new Champion of Hoenn. I soon reach the top, and finally behold Rayquaza. I claim his avatar, and my challenge is complete.

Go! Team! Sky!

PSR Entry 10: Reverse!Hoenn - Ever Grande League

After defeating my own Normal-type father, the Fire-type Flannery, the Electric-type Watson, the Fighting-type Brawly, and finally Champion Roxanne with a Destiny Bond finish, I have finally become Champion of this Hoenn! Go! Team! Sky!

...Oh, there's one final challenge to partake before I'm well and truly in?

Name references:

Interlope the Skarmory - Counterpart to Incercept
Tempest the Pelipper (Surf) - Counterpart to Storm
Moonrise the Crobat - If there are sunrises and sunsets, then so does the moon.
Cumulus the Altaria - Clouds in the sky
Sirocco the Claydol - Desert winds
Noxis the Weezing - Noxious

PSR Entry 9: Reverse!Hoenn - Gym 8: Lady Winona, and Journey To The League

So after leaving the Cave of Origin via Sirocco's Dig, I make sure everything's well and truly back to normal before I proceed with the last Gym. I also return to Mt. Pyre to get rid of the Blue Orb, and arrive just in time to see Archie return the Red Orb. Once that whole thing is behind me, I turn my attention to finally facing Winona. I go through all of the trainers (well, only three actually challenged me, which is a shame), and make it to the top to face off with her, Sky trainer to Sky trainer. I manage to prove my skill to her, and earn her Badge. Go Team Sky!

With no more need to Dive for the rest of the journey, I had Seasoar forget Dive and learn Waterfall instead. And then I climb the Waterfall, roost for a bit at the center, and make my move to surmount Victory Road. The formerly sick boy Wally from Petalburg/Verdanturf proves to be a surprise final obstacle, but I will not be stopped now and beat him. And then, I reach the League, show the Badges, and finally I'm ready to face the Elite Four.

...You know, maybe founding my own team might not be for me after all. Especially after I heard a rumor of a cross-universal team that shares my dreams, and even shares the same name I would've named my organization. I think I shall prove myself to THAT Team Sky by becoming Champion instead.

PSR Entry 8: Reverse!Hoenn - End of Team Aqua

So after a trip to the Shoal Cave for some training, I decided to collect the materials for the Shell Bell on a whim, and then Dive (ugh!) to Sootopolis to challenge the elegant Winona... except she's currently unavailable! So I decided to follow up on the other problem at hand: Team Aqua. I find their submarine, surface in the cave they're at, and blow through all its members before actually reaching Kyogre first! Unfortunately, Archie battled me, and then his Red Orb drove Kyogre berserk, and started a massive downpour! If this continues, there will be nowhere left for the sky Pokemon to rest their wings, not to mention all the rain battering them!

Champion Roxanne finds me, leads me to Sootopolis, and takes me to the elegant Winona herself. They then take me to the entrance to the Cave(!) of Origin where Kyogre is doing its thing. So with the entire region at stake, I head in. Without a light, But I needed my entire team to face a legendary, so I brave it, pick up the crucial HM07 to reach Ever Grande on the way, reach the bottom, and put a stop to Kyogre, returning it to its slumber once more! Go Team Sky!

Okay, given the fandom rivalry here, I wasnt too sure about doing this, but I decided "what the hey" and eventually did it anyway.

So, if one is to try a challenge like this outside Pokémon, a few different ground rules need to be established.

  1. Due to how interwoven their Digivolution lines are, in theory, ALL Digimon can become Creatures of the Sky. There are no strict lines one needs to follow if you're following the logical lines the animes tell you.
  2. As a result, the Starter you pick doesn't matter. You might think Palmon is the only choice due to Mimi Tachikawa's own where Lillymon debuted, who is undebatably a "Sky" Digimon, but no, actually, that one doesn't have to be the default. It appears all Rookies and In-Training Level Mons can be Scanned and Converted without breaking the Team Sky tenets.
  3. However, the lines going upward are a different story, as some of them DO end as non-Flyers in their highest stages, so there will need to be some limits to who to Digivolve your Mons to.
  4. Given the anime depicts some of them doing a lot of midair stuff, and because I've only watched the Adventure continuity (but not the movies), I probably won't have all of the actual applicables on this list simply because I didn't know.

To get things out of the way, Digivolution Levels can end up confusing between translations, so here are their correspondents. First is Fresh, also known as Training 1. Second is In-Training, also known as Training 2, and some babies fall under this level. Next is Child, also known as Rookie, and this would normally be the equivalent of most first-stage in a three-stage. After that is Adult, also known as Champion, akin to the second-stage, though there's also an alternate line called the Armor Level. After that is Perfect, also known as Ultimate, akin to the third-stage. And finally for most is Ultimate, also known as Mega, akin to a more permanent Mega Evolution form. There are also a few that go beyond even that with the Ultra Level.

All Wind Attribute Digimon by default should probably count as Digimon of the Sky, but not all who fly are strictly that Attribute, and not all who have that Attribute are flyers and are only Wind because of their incredible running speeds or something related. And since they can only have one Attribute at a time instead of the Dual-Types we're familiar with, looking for others will be prudent.

This is a list of certified definitive Digimon of the Sky, being the flyers or winged ones, and clearer cases of levitation.

Mega Levels:

Arcadiamon Mega

UlforceVeedramon

Varodurumon

VenomMyotismon

Ophanimon

GranKuwagamon

GranDracmon? (not sure, since the wings look too vestigial)

Dynasmon

Dorugoramon

Barbamon

HerculesKabuterimon

Beelzemon BM

Hououmon

Magnadramon

MagnaGarurumon (both forms)

Mastemon

MarineAngemon (despite the aquatic name, it definitely looks like a flier)

Megidramon

MetalGarurumon (both forms)

Lilithmon

Ravemon (both forms)

Imperialdramon (all forms)

Examon

Omnimon (inc. Zwart form)

Belphemon (both forms)

Lucemon SM

Apocalymon

Ouryumon

Armor Levels:

Magnamon (maybe)

This is for anyone who wants to try a Team Sky challenge in this game, whose Pokemon have swapped around in terms of types, so some who were applicable may not be so anymore, and vice-versa.

Warning: I may miss a few qualifiers like some of the Ghost-types, which do float for the most part.

List by final stages:

Pidgeot
Fearow
Crobat
Rapidash
Wigglytuff (Igglybuff wanders the skies, and appears to be a floater)
Farfetch'd (not Flying-type, but learns Sketch, so it can learn Fly)
Dodrio
Gengar
Electrode
Weezing
Seaking (well, it's just a Ghost, but Goldeen can fit for your surfing needs)
Eevee (evolve to Glaceon, which is also Flying-type here, or Espeon, which can learn Fly)
Aerodactyl
Feraligatr (all variants)
Furret
Noctowl
Crobat
Ledian (visible floater)
Xatu
Azumarill
Yanmega
Quagsire and Clodsire (A MUST-CATCH for your Surfing needs since Gyarados no longer qualifies in this game)
Honchkrow
Forretress (Johtonian form only)
Gliscor
Mantine
Entei
Ho-Oh
Celebi
Blaziken
Dustox
Swellow
Pelipper
Banette
Absol
Wynaut (does not evolve to Wobbuffet, which is Fighting/Ghost)
Glalie and Froslass (both evos can still learn Fly)
Latias
Latios
