Poppy wants 4500 euro
Hi all, I am in a bit of trouble. Long story short: I use poppy and more than a month ago, after the trip I took the picture, pressed end trip, put my phone in my pocket and slowly walked away. After 20 mins or so I saw the poppy app was still active, did not show any error message saying trip wasn’t ended. In that 20-25 mins when I was away, some minors got in to the car drove and hit another parked car (apparently your phone doesn’t need to be near for driving their car). Police was there, there were witnesses who saw the kids getting out and running away. I went to police station later and gave my statement and I have papers showing the details of the case registered. They also said they get too many of these cases.
Now Poppy send me an invoice and has been trying to take 4500 euro from my account without listening to my objection of doing so. This is over the towing charge I already paid. I did select the middle level insurance that says excess pay is limited to 1200 euro for all my drives. They are saying this doesn’t apply because this is an issue of negligence and I am responsible. I did not cause this and police takes this as a criminal offence. I am thinking of moving legally but I don’t know if I have any chance. Does anyone know if I have a shot?. Or will I be just paying more in legal fee ?.
