19F with 5-6 Concussions Over 4 Years — Struggling to Function in College and Looking for Advice
I am a 19 year old female who has had probably 5-6 concussions within the last 4 years. I was a year round athlete in highschool and suffered from many concussions while in season (I played volleyball, basketball, flag football, and soccer). I had a minor one my freshman year, and then my second one my sophomore year which was the severest of them all putting me out of play for 6 months (This is really fuzzy for me and I cannot seem to remember much from a 9 month period of that time). The following 3-4 have been minor ones that happened because I have become much more vulnerable to any slight head trauma. I am writing here because I want to ask for advice. I am currently enrolled in university I'm finding it extremely difficult to learn and just be a functioning person. It is hard for me to retain information and maintain focus. I suffer from constant severe migraines and have severe emotional droughts (even staring at my screen writing this for 5 minutes has made me nauseous) . This obviously has caused my academics to suffer badly. I'm looking to possibly get some sort of medical explanation for these symptoms that I can take to my university but I am unsure what steps to take or who to speak to regarding this. Please if you have any advice or personal experience with something similar id greatly appreciate anything that you may have to say!
