I've worked at two camps, was an early childhood teacher at a NAEYC, accredited preschool, former Girl Scout. Evacuation plans are supposed to be posted in every room of every building! The inspectors not only look for those maps, but they're supposed to obtain a copy in their licensing decision. Why hasn't DHSH been held accountable? I'm not excusing the lack of Evacuation planning and drills, but simply stating this had been going on for a LONG TIME, and not one competent DHSH Inspector flagged it????

At the end of the day, I'd love to see the spirit of Mystic, which was founded by a woman with her own mind, ahead of her time who was REFUSED A LOAN from her own father, but got financing on her own, speaking up for women's rights, preserved and passed down. She wanted a place for young women to learn independence and be in nature, wholly free to be themselves. As a woman who grew up enjoying the enchanting beauty of the Guadelupe at Kerrville and Hunt, I want others to be able to enjoy it for generations.
The campers love Leslie. She has the experience to run water safety, she's an absolute Goddess and people LIKE HER. Mary Liz needs to read the writing on the wall and step down. Bring in Leslie and begin again with her at the helm
The investigator who tried so hard to be non biased, Casey Garrett, during presentation to the July 2025 Flooding Events Committee to the Texas House on April 27th, 2026. She alluded to the flood on 1987 when campers who were evacuating a camp further down the Guadelupe River, past Kerrville, Texas, died when their buss stalled crossing the river. Her comment was tied to the current testimony regarding Camp Mystic, and she led people to believe children died at Camp Mystic in 1987.
