I found this at an antique shop in Frederick, MD, and they told me it came from an estate sale in Baltimore. The newspaper clipping stuffed behind it was from Baltimore's Evening Sun, dated July 3rd, 1928. We can't figure out who the artist is.

I found out who Captain Lawrence was from this and his famous saying, "Don't give up the ship," which I now love and have hanging up in my living room, along with this painting.
