2017 Nissan Rogue sports engine halts after shifting gear in the morning
Steps to reproduce.
start the car in the morning (when its cold)
shift to R or D
Engine stops/halts (I have to restart)
This continues.
If its in the middle of the day or if I do the following I have a better luck
start the car
wait for 5 minutes and then shift the gear to R or D
The other symptoms are hesitations in the first few minutes (meaning it feels jerky or the car does not want to move right after the car starts to move). Once it starts it feels okay.
There is no check engine light. A mechanic has tried all the testing of three systems (using some diagnostics) and he has not found anything.
The car has almost 160k mileage. I drained 300+ dollars and had many inconveniences on it. The mechanics are suggesting to leave it overnight. With hourly rate of 170, it can end up being very expensive if the mechanic does not find it.
