Guilty Pleasure
I hate to say this, but these are definitely my endgame.
I’ve fallen into the trap of buying every new budget IEM release, but after a very bad experience with the KZ PR2, I avoided the KZ planar lineup like the plague. I recently decided to give the KZ PRX a chance, especially since, assuming you get a good unit, it seemed to measure similarly to the 7th Acoustics Supernova in the midrange.
When these arrived, I was not disappointed. This is the first time I’ve heard an IEM with proper treble extension past 15 kHz and sub-bass that doesn’t roll off early. The timbre sounds very smooth and natural, while vocals sound clear and isolated from the rest of the music. It’s the first time in a long while that I’ve had a real “wow” factor from audio gear.
Honestly, I don’t even feel like trying anything else anymore, because I might just end up disappointed. I had the CrinEar Reference on my watchlist, but I’m starting to reconsider everything now.
