I'm Georgy - an engineer. My girlfriend is an actor. I've read a lot of sides. Mainly for her auditions. The engineer in me to help her more, and I kind of did.
I've been heads-down on this for two years - solo dev, part-time, every evening - breaking things, fixing bugs, refining, listening to actors who've been using it from the early days. This feedback has shaped every major decision. It's finally stable now, and ready to be shared more widely. It's also dirt cheap - you pay for what you use.
It's called ActOnCue - a rehearsal app/website. Your plan B for when your plan A (coach, friend, mum) isn't available. To be clear - this won't make you a better actor. Classes, coaching, and real scene work will. It's a specialized tool for practising actors who know how and when to use it.
What it currently does:
- Reads any PDF you've got
- Lines can be recorded by your friend or generated - depends on your preference
- Helps you get off-book with line learning tools
- Helps you self-tape with a teleprompter (for commercials, UGC, or other smaller roles)
All of the above are stable, and there's plenty more I haven't listed - and you're better off trying it yourself than reading me talk about it.
If you've already tried it, or already use it, please drop a comment/upvote. And if this project sounds useful, share this post in your acting group / friends / anyone who might find it useful. I appreciate your support!
Have a great weekend!
