context: my hometown is Rome, where eating out is a big part of the culture, even on a random weekday restaurants are pretty busy, on weekend everythings fully booked.
I've been living in Basel for 5 years now and I always seem to see restaurants/döner laden/etc half full at best and empty at worst. I could give many examples (especially in St Johann, where I live). yet they rarely if ever close.. how does this work? it's confusing to me
