Russell Sage honors entrance exam for incoming 6th graders — what should we expect?
My daughter will be entering 6th grade at Russell Sage this fall, and we recently received an invitation for her to take the honors entrance exam.
I’ve been trying to find more information online about what the test is actually like (format, subjects covered, difficulty level, whether it’s mostly math/ELA, how much prep is expected, etc.), but there doesn’t seem to be much out there beyond general school info from the school site and local school profiles (Russell Sage Gems).
Has anyone here had a child take it recently, or taken it themselves? What should we expect?
A few specific questions:
- Is it mainly math and reading comprehension?
- Is it similar to state test material, or more advanced/problem-solving focused?
- Is there anything worth reviewing beforehand?
- How selective is placement into the honors program?
