Hi ! I was wondering if I can get some expert opinions on this case. I work with Medicaid and Medicare patients mainly, so not a lot of implants. A patient came in with this issue #3 & 4 implant food traps and is asking me what he can do if it gets bad. Overall pt has fair hygiene. In my opinion prognosis is questionable pt is asymptomatic, but he has mucositis. Recommend SRP and offered to refer him to a periodontist. However, a previous dentist said he needs new crowns and he wanted me to give him alternatives. I don't know whether new crowns will make any difference would they? I felt like I didn't know what else to tell the patient except for : make sure you floss and use a water pick! Could an implant retain partial work better for hygiene? Obviously I'm referring the case out to my boss or a prosthodontist but I'd like to learn from other doctors.
Maybe this is some new technique I'm not familiar with. The one thing I'm sure is that this is not the typical implant placement. I'm worried his mucositis will likely never go away. Should I be more concerned?
