Say hello to my baby Xóchitl!! Pronounced soh-cheel, it means flower in Nahuatl which is the language of many indigenous peoples of Mexico, my mother country ❤️🇲🇽
I’ve had her for about two weeks, and I am absolutely besotted with her. She’s two years old, doesn’t much like other cats, and mostly likes to be pet for hours - she will literally wake me up in the middle of the night by sitting on my chest and purring loudly just so she can get some loving.
I grew up with dogs, so I’m not really familiar with what taking care of a cat entails and thought I’d ask this wonderful cat loving community for any advice y’all have. I know they need some minimum amount of stimulating play time, and I especially wanted to hear what kind of tips and tricks people might have for making sure she’s exerting a healthy amount of energy both physically and mentally! I decided on a cat because I work a lot and I knew I’d be able to leave her home alone most days with little worry, but I really don’t want to fall into that mindset of cats are just low maintenance pets. Any ideas on how to make sure she’s having a good time while home alone would be immensely helpful!! I have been doing some research on my own, but human advice based on experience is usually best.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!! Peace and brother ❤️
