Mother’s Day present for MIL

Mother’s Day present for MIL

Eucalyptus live edge pot holder. I need to invest in some planers if I want to do more flat pieces I’ve cut from stumps as it’s barely level on one side…

Hand prints of my kids done in acrylic before I sealed with linseed oil. Will this be okay to be below a hot pot or pan once the linseed has cured?

Mother’s Day present for my wife

Comb made from the side of last year’s splitting stump. I think it was a kind of Eucalyptus.

Would approach slightly different if I was to make another one but otherwise, a fun little project that was well received!

Beginner carver looking to upgrade from a cheap Amazon knife set for my birthday at the end of the month. So far I’ve really enjoyed making spoons from my firewood log pile or small basswood toys for my son.

I’ve seen lots of posts discussing different brands and feeling a little overwhelmed with all of the options. Would love some recommendations for a new sloyd, detail knife and hook knife that will perform well for a long time but not break the bank too much. Also for a sharpening set potentially..

Also how does a carving axe differ from a normal hatchet?

Thanks for your help everyone!

Made Rusty from Rusty’s world, my (soon to be) 3 yr old son’s favourite YouTube series. The idea of this project is actually what inspired me to start learning how to carve wood.

I know it’s not perfect but I’m very happy with the result. I’m so excited to give this to him tomorrow!

Also sending out massive respect to the figurine carvers who paint every carving. The painting takes ages!

Included are the reference image as well as a couple WIP photos for me to look back on.

Basswood sealed with polyurethane.
