Vet doesn’t know what bony mass is

We have a 14 year-old pitbull mix. She has a large bony mass on the inside of her left hind leg. It’s about the size of a tennis ball. We noticed it about seven months ago and took her to the vet who recommended doing some lab work and imaging… We didn’t do any lab work but we did do an x-ray because the vet said there was a possibility that it was hollow and could place her at increased risk of fracture. So we wanted to know if we should limit her activity. The x-ray didn’t look hollow, but the vet didn’t know what it was either. He said he was almost 100% sure that it was not osteosarcoma though because those dogs are in excruciating pain when you touch it which our dog is not. She acts completely like herself. Good appetite, able to run around and play, goes up and down the stairs fine. No changes really. She does have a history of a little bit of arthritis so she’s a little bit slower and obviously she’s 14. Just curious if anyone knows what it is.
