I'm a 35 year old man with an IT background, but the job market for my field is absolutely horrendous. Not sure if or when it will ever change.

I'm interested in switching over to security and building a career. I know the pay is lower, but the stress is also lower.

Any tips for someone like me? Should I take the security guard course and CPR first, or should I try to find a job where they'll train me for free?
