My dog is currently experiencing some issues with his butt and I’m looking for insight before I head back to the vet....just for them to tell me to wait and see...There is dark blood and around his butt, but his actual stools are completely normal with no diarrhea or blood inside the poop itself.

The blood is usually a dark red color rather than bright red. He also has a very strong "fishy" odor, and he sometimes "leaks" or drips fluid on the floor if he gets startled or barks at the door. Despite the discharge and the smell, he is acting totally normal. He is eating well, has high energy, and doesn't seem lethargic at all.

For medical history, we brought him to get his glands expressed since they were full. Then a week later it was happening again but more reddish looking than brown this time. We brought him to the vet and they put him on antibiotics and pre and pro biotics. He finished the antibiotics a week ago and is still taking the pre and probiotics, but the smell and the dark red bleeding have continued and returned. I add pumpkin powder to his food to keep his stools firm.

I am looking for advice on what to do if I see active discharge from what looks like a small wound or the gland area. Since he’s already had an expression and a round of antibiotics, I want to know what I should be asking my vet for specifically, such as an internal flushing or a medicated infusion, to stop this from coming back.

Thank you so much for any help
