Hey guys! I'm looking for advice here as my dad rescued a singular pigeon from his workplace and gave him to me to look after.

My mom absolutely hates the fact that we have a pigeon inside of the house but I keep hearing that having 2 is optimal for a pigeon's wellbeing. It has been about 7-8 months since I've had this pigeon.

He doesn't really play with any toys I get him and typically likes to chill on top of high drawers since raising him. It's only been recently (2 days) since he has started to run into my hand for pets and attention.

I've learned on reddit that pigeons need a LOT of social interaction but I feel like he doesn't really play with me or with his toys and ONLY likes to get pet. Sometimes it makes it hard to work because if I don't pet him, he will charge at my hand or jump on top of it while I'm typing. I've tried setting down some popsicle sticks, qtips, scrunchy bird paper toys, and bells.. he barely plays with them. He doesn't even have any pigeon treats he likes. I bought him unsalted sunflower seeds and safflower seeds and he doesn't have any interest of any of them.

I just don't want to have a pigeon that will end up feeling bored or depressed since there isn't much that interests him. I wish I could just get him another pigeon friend but it's unfortunately not possible with how my mom feels about it.

I was thinking that maybe I should find a flock somewhere or let him go but I learned that it's also a very bad idea since he grew up indoors and will likely not survive if I let him go now.

I'm desperately seeking for help as I really want him to be happy and there is only so much that interests him. It doesn't help that I can't give him my undivided attention for more than a few minutes at a time as I work a job and have to study for school as well :(

Any help is appreciate it

Hey Pigeon lovers! I've had my pigeon for about a year now and it has finally started to coo whenever I pet him but now that he trusts me more, he ALWAYS wants attention. I love him so much and I feel obligated to pet him the whole entire time but sometimes it makes it hard to get some work done on my computer. I don't know what to do because I feel bad whenever I stop petting him and he jumps / charges at my hand for more haha.

Any advice is great. thank you :)
