Hi everyone, I'm posting here because I don't know what else to do.
My 2 year old male cat started attacking my 12 year old dog when she gets excited (when shes laying down calmly he will come up to her and sniff her but thats it). This behavior is very unusual he's usually very friendly and we haven't had problems with him attacking our other cat. It started a few months ago, when my dog comes to wake me up for a walk he will jump on her and scratch her pretty badly.
I took my cat to a vet and he doesn't have any pain anywhere, I tried separating them but I live in a small apartment and I don't have the space to separate them for a long time. I tried giving treats when they're around each other to promote good associations but he still gets spooked and attacks.
I don't want to rehome my cat because I'm very attached to him but I don't want my dog living in terror and constantly needing to be bandaged.
Is there anything else I can do to make it stop? Thanks in advance for anybody that responds
