Hi all, looking for some real-life opinions because I'm feeling pretty torn. We currently live in MoCo (G'burg area) and trying to decide between moving to Frederick or going much more affordable and moving to Ranson, WV (looking at new build communities like Huntwell or Madison Greens, etc.)

Frederick feels like the "safer" choice since is still in MD and closer to what we're used... but it's also a lot mroe expensive. Ranson is obviously way more affordable, but I'm not sure what day-to-day life really feels like there.

Would love to hear from anyone who:

  • Moved from MoCo to Frederick - was it worth it? any regrets?
  • Chose WV (specifically Charles Town/Ranson area) instead. How has that been?
  • Considered both and picked one.. what made you decide?

My hubby and I work from home mostly, so I'd commute to MoCo 1-2x a week and he works in NoVA and also only would commute 1-2x a week. Our sons are young adults so don't have to worry about schools; however, they still live at home so it'd be a change for them too.

Overall, just trying to figure out if paying more for Frederick is truly worth it or if going to WV is the smarter move. The difference would probably be $100k plus. Would appreciate any honest experiences! Thanks in advance!
