So me and a few other bar takers on this channel are stressed about whether we pass tomorrow primarily because of the PT and how much of it we got through.
When I first sat for the bar, I took the advice of approaching the PT first because it was worth two essays. I have taken the bar for the fourth time in February (two CA bars: 1320 & 1350; and one UBE: 156 in a 266 JX; CA F26 pending). My best PT scores were always the result of me doing the PT first. My worst scores are obviously the contrary. This time I did the PT last and absolutely regret it because I was so brain dead I kept skipping over the important part of the case that gave me the law I needed to argue and the structure for the PT. I have practiced more PTs than any other time I’ve sat for the exam and felt like I finally got the hang of it so I felt really prepared, yet felt like I got screwed because of my approach.
I went in order of the exam this time because I took some new advice that it doesn’t matter whether you do the PT first or last, the 90 minutes is “enough” but now I’ve fumbled an essay that is worth two essays as opposed to just fumbling and sacrificing one essay. I’m told it’s gonna be an uphill battle for a passing score and that’s so stressful to hear. Do any of you believe it makes a difference whether you approach the PT first or last in the second half? Does anyone have any personal stories of going from fail to pass by switching their approach?
