We live in a 1 mile radius, they rip around on their bikes and walk around. I really don’t need to know where they are, but they always bring up how phones could make them safer. I’m thinking I build a few portable devices and hand them out. Could they text each other this way?

I’ve worked with Arduino with my son and one of his friends. They were into it. I think we could play up the build process to get them excited.

Is this a good application? Can they text each other without a phone?
