Found along with some Japanese propaganda he kept from his time in New Guinea. Probably a photo belonging to a fallen Japanese soldier. Not sure how likely it would be to carry your own photo, so probably a son or brother.

This nest looks more like a bee nest but the insects that I can only see from a distance look more like wasps. Can anyone confirm bee or wasp?
