Advice for getting out

Yo, if you were ever hurt or think were hurt in the !course of being a marine, please apply for VA benefits using BDD. It’s dead easy, you get time to take care of yourself and even if you don’t have any issues that are service related you still get 0% which is dope depending on state benefits

Start your Benefits Dispensed on Discharge as soon after your 6 month to the end of your active duty contract. Get all your medical stuff and make it a priority. If you’re not a dirtbag you should have room to breathe. I got it done in like a week but it could take longer depending on how many specialists you have to see.

If you’re going to go to school at any point I highly recommend the Warrior Scholar Project. I did it and I probably would’ve dropped out if I hadn’t.

If you want to get in the trades get certs and trade skills with the GI bill.

Don’t throw away your Gi bill, it’s a key to live practically anywhere in the world for 4 years and you just have to study fucking English like who cares.

Find an advisor who is preferably a civilian but definitely not in your chain of command or your wife.

I’m sure you have loads of resources of how to stay in the Marines. So if that’s you then good luck.
